One of 30,695 made. 7,129-mile Camaro (mileage not indicated on the title). This Butternut Yellow Camaro SS was purchased new by the first owner at Curtis Chevrolet in Washington, D.C. That original owner was worried about scratching his car and drove it very rarely – which accounts for the low mileage. Around 1976, the original owner sold the car to a collector. This Camaro has been a topic in a few Camaro reference books, including the M.F. Dobbins “Camaro Fact Book.” It’s powered by a 350/295hp engine with 4-speed manual transmission. Options include shaded windshield, bumper guards, 12-bolt differential, AM radio, posi-traction, Rallye wheels with red line tires, vinyl top and SS option. The car is original except for the battery and brake hoses.

This car currently is not for sale, simply because most do not realize how significant a vehicle this is, Jerry MacNeish inspected the vehicle in June of 2016 and stated it was one of if not the most original 68’s he had ever seen. that is a pretty significant comment considering the source.

Direct quote from the MacNeish report:

This 1968 Camaro, vin #124378N326357 has been inspected and certified by Camaro Hi-Performance.  According to our data base and historical Chevrolet records, this car is an original L48 350-295 horsepower V-8 with 4-speed Muncie transmission and factory 12-bolt rear axle.  This Camaro, drive train and trim tag are certified as real and authentic. The interior and exterior colors are correct for this vehicle and match the trim identification tag on the firewall.  Summary; car falls into the survivor’s category with excellent originality.  Only 12,496 1968 SS350’s were produced making the Super Sport L48 Camaro one of the more desirable and collectible Camaro’s for the 1968 model year.”

“Through use of photo data analysis, I have confirmed that all drive train stamping’s do match all original 1968 stamping’s in my Camaro Hi-Performance data base.  An original drive train L48 with survivor’s status is very rare and desirable in the Camaro world.  Many were blown up from abuse or driving on the race track when these cars were new.”

“It is my professional opinion that this car is an original Norwood built SS350 with a factory installed 350-295 hp V-8 engine.  This car is a very nice survivor in its current condition and would be a perfect candidate for the “Legends Survivor” class at the Camaro Nationals.  I highly recommend that this car be cleaned, detailed and prepared for the 2017 Camaro Nationals held at the Frederick Fairgrounds in Frederick, MD.”

Freshly returned from the MCACN (Muscle Car and Corvette Nationals), this Camaro was presented for Vintage Legend Certification, the program was designed for unrestored original cars. We could not be happier with the result, the vehicle received the “Vintage Legend Certification”  For a vehicle to receive this it must be judged a minimum of 80-90% original in five areas of inspection.

• Engine Compartment Area • Exterior Body • Interior Body • Underbody • Trunk. Anything less and you do not receive this award.

With a 94.7% average we couldn’t be happier.

This car will now be cleaned and prepared per Jerry MacNeish suggestions in his June 2016 inspection and certification report an presented for the Legends Survivor class judging at the 2017 Camaro Nationals.
